NIME08 is hosted at Genova from June 5 to 7. The conference consists of a three full-day event where research papers, demos, and performances will be presented on the state-of-the-art concerning new interfaces for musical expression. There will be one day of workshops before and after the main conference on June 4 and June 8, as well providing focus on special areas close to the NIME community.

This year the 4th Sound and Music Computing (SMC) Summer School is held in connection with NIME08 on June 9 - 11, 2008. The program of the school include plenary lectures, poster sessions, and hands-on activities. Topics include Gesture and Music - Embodied Music Cognition, Mobile Music Systems, and Active Music Listening. Registration to the school includes free access to NIME workshops.
